Common questions
What is gaffer tape used for?
Gaffer tape is a cloth tape used across theatre, film, TV and photography for temporary fixing — securing cables, rigging, flags, scenery and cases — where you need a strong hold that peels off cleanly.
Does GaffTac leave residue?
Rosco says it removes cleanly with no residue on most surfaces. Results depend on the surface and how long it’s left, so test on delicate surfaces first.
Gaffer tape vs duct tape — what’s the difference?
Gaffer tape has a matte cloth backing and an adhesive designed for clean removal. Duct tape is typically shiny and can leave sticky residue.
Can I tear it by hand?
Yes — it’s hand tearable, so no cutting tools are needed.
What colours does GaffTac gaffer tape come in?
Rosco makes it in black, white and grey. We stock all three.
Always test on delicate, painted or valuable surfaces first. Adhesion and clean removal depend on the surface, conditions and how long the tape is applied. Specifications are from Rosco technical data and are a guide only.
