Rosco Gobos.

The precise control of where light exists — and where it doesn’t. Glass and steel gobos turn a projector into a tool for pattern, texture, logos, foliage break-up and wayfinding, custom-made to your artwork and built to last in permanent installations.

What it is

A stencil for light

A gobo is a patterned disc placed in a projector’s optical path to shape the light it casts. At its simplest it’s a stencil — a break-up pattern that dapples a wall like foliage. At its most refined it’s a full-colour glass image that projects a photographic detail or a precise brand mark.

Rosco makes gobos in steel for bold shapes and patterns, and in glass for fine detail, greyscale tone and full colour. Custom gobos turn your own artwork — a logo, an icon set, a wayfinding graphic, a bespoke texture — into a projection-ready part, built to survive the heat and hours of a permanent installation.

How it works

From break-up to full colour

Steel & glass

Steel gobos for bold patterns and shapes; glass for fine detail, greyscale tone and full-colour imagery.

Pattern & texture

Break-up and foliage patterns dapple surfaces with organic, natural-looking light and shadow.

Custom artwork

Your logo, icon, message or texture becomes a made-to-order gobo, projection-ready and durable.

Reference project

A pattern on a hospitality terrace

At the Beau Rivage Palace in Lausanne, a projected foliage break-up brings soft, leafy light and shadow to a restaurant setting — decorative pattern that adds atmosphere without a single physical prop.

The same tool projects a retail logo onto a floor, a break-up across a lobby ceiling, or wayfinding icons along a path: one part, endless applications.
