Design With Light
Design With Light.
Shape it. Colour it. Project it. Animate it. Build it into the architecture.
Rosco technologies give architects and lighting designers new ways to use light as a material — to project imagery, shape a beam, add permanent colour, generate movement, or turn a surface into a source. CFATS is the Australian route from early concept and testing through specification, quotation and supply.
What do you want light to do?
Don't start from a product. Start from the outcome you're designing for — we'll show you the technique and the Rosco tool that gets you there.
Light as a material, not an object
Water & movement
Convincing, non-repeating water, fire and cloud — no media server, no haze.
Projection & texture
Images, patterns, logos and texture placed exactly where you want them.
Integrated light
Ultra-shallow luminous surfaces built into ceilings, walls and joinery.
Colour
Permanent dichroic colour and correction for long-life installations.
Beam control
Engineered beam shaping that reshapes an existing luminaire's distribution.
Wayfinding
Reconfigurable projected paths, icons and information underfoot.
Façades
Detailing, masking, heritage interpretation and dynamic identity after dark.
Concealment
Light that reads as part of the architecture, with the source hidden.

Museum · X-Effects
15,000 sq ft of moving water
~200 X-Effects projectors create a layered, non-repeating water environment for an immersive ocean-conservation exhibit — visible even against heavy ambient projection.
Heritage · Image Spot
A Gothic façade, detailed in light
Six Image Spots with custom gobos pick out cornice, tracery and arches on a Gothic-Plateresque palace — warm, dark-sky-respectful, and precise to the architecture.
Architecture · Custom LitePad
A luminous ceiling for a Modernist landmark
30+ Custom LitePad panels form a uniform, diffuse backlit ceiling in a protected reception — modern light that respects a Miesian aesthetic.
Public art · Permacolor
Colour and pattern on a 90-ft ring
Custom gobos and Permacolor dichroic filters light a giant stainless ring, shifting between saturated colour and pattern while illuminating only its inner contour.
The tools underneath
Nine ways to shape, colour, project, animate and integrate light. Explore each as a design and specification resource — not a product grid.
X-Effects
Dynamic effects engine — water, fire, cloud, foliage, aurora.
Image Spot
Put light — and an image, pattern or logo — exactly where you want it.
Custom LitePad
Turn a surface into an even, ultra-shallow light source.
RoscoLED Tape
High-CRI engineered linear light for integrated details.
Gobos
Control where light exists — and where it does not.
Permacolor
Permanent, non-fading dichroic colour and correction.
OPTI-SCULPT
Shape the beam without changing the fixture.
Cube family
Compact LED wash that builds into the architecture.
By application
Museums, hospitality, retail, heritage, public realm and more.
Choosing between two options?
Short, honest comparisons to help you pick the right approach for a permanent installation.
How a project moves with CFATS
You don't need a finished specification to talk to us. Bring a sketch, a render or a problem — we start there.
Idea
Tell us what you're trying to achieve.
Explore
We identify possible Rosco technologies.
Test
Samples, demonstrations and project-specific tests.
Validate
Technical data, photometrics and Rosco input.
Specify
Model, optics, accessories, controls, documentation.
Quote
Australian project pricing and lead time.
Supply
CFATS supplies the specified solution.
Have an effect in mind but don't know how to create it?
Rosco's tools are often combined in project-specific ways. Send us a sketch, render, photograph, reference image or a description of the result you're after — we'll identify possible Rosco approaches and bring in Rosco's technical specialists where needed.
Specialist Rosco technology, supported locally
Your local project resource
Concept and product selection, samples, demonstrations, project testing and mock-ups, photometric and specification information, custom gobo and projection assistance, pricing, availability, lead times and Australian supply.
Engineering & product expertise
Deep manufacturer input on optics, custom fabrication and application, brought into projects where specialist technical guidance is required.
