Light, clean lubrication where nylon or plastic parts rub against each other.

Mould release

A release film on moulds for plastics and composites in prop and model work.

A clean, low-mess lubricant to keep in every workshop kit.

Right job, wrong job

What it is — and what it isn’t

Use it for

  • Rubber, plastic, nylon, vinyl, wood and metal parts
  • Seals, gaskets, mountings and weather stripping
  • Locks, latches, hinges, zips and pulleys
  • Release film on moulds for plastics and composites

Don’t use it for

  • Live (energised) electrical equipment — always de-energise first
  • Heavy-load metal-to-metal parts that need a grease (use CRC 5037)
  • Surfaces you plan to paint or glue — silicone residue affects adhesion
  • Freeing rusted or seized parts (use CRC 5-56)
How to use

Getting the best result

  1. Switch off and de-energise any equipment before spraying.
  2. Shake the can well.
  3. Make sure the surface is clean and dry.
  4. Apply a light, even film. Repeat if needed — a thin coat works better than a heavy one.
  5. Wipe off overspray from surfaces you don’t want treated.

FAQs

Common questions

What is CRC 2094 used for?

It’s a multi-purpose silicone spray used to lubricate and protect rubber, plastic, metal, nylon, wood and vinyl — stopping squeaks and binding on seals, locks, latches, zips, pulleys and tools. It can also be used as a mould release.

Is CRC 2094 food grade?

No. CRC lists USDA approval for incidental food contact, but it is not sold as a food-grade lubricant. If you need a food-grade product, ask us for the right option.

Is it safe on rubber and plastic?

Yes — CRC lists rubber, plastic, nylon and vinyl as suitable. As with any chemical, test on a small hidden area first.

Can I paint over silicone spray?

Not easily. Silicone residue can stop paint and adhesives from bonding. Keep it off any surface you plan to paint or glue, and clean thoroughly if overspray occurs.

Silicone spray vs CRC 5-56 — which do I need?

Use 2094 for clean, dry lubrication of rubber, plastic and moving parts. Use 5-56 to penetrate rust, free seized parts and displace moisture on metal.

Always read the product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Flammable aerosol unless stated; use with good ventilation, keep away from ignition sources and never use on live (energised) equipment. Test on a small hidden area first — results depend on the surface, conditions and application. Specifications are from CRC technical data and are a guide only.
