DigiComp HD Green is Rosco’s high-performance digital compositing paint for studios that want the cleanest, most repeatable key possible. It isn’t just a green paint and it isn’t simply “chroma-key looking” paint — it is specifically engineered for digital compositing systems, with the correct luminance, RGB values, spectral reflectance and high-gain reflectivity to make the surface easy to light and easy to key.
Why pros choose DigiComp HD: it delivers crisp separation of foreground and background, with little or no post-production touch-up needed. Rosco designed it to reduce the dirty keys and spectral interference commonly caused by generic or paint-store mixed formulations.
One gallon / 3.785 litres. Designed for digital compositing environments where consistency and clean separation matter.
Best for
- Virtual production and LED-adjacent green screen workflows
- Broadcast studios needing fast, repeatable keying
- Livestream studios where setup speed and key quality matter
- Permanent green-screen walls and cycs where repaint consistency matters
Why DigiComp® HD is different
Rosco formulates DigiComp HD using single-source pigments to create a bright, narrow bandwidth of green. That highly specific reflectance profile is what makes it both simple to light and easy to key.
- Precision in colour: engineered for optimum operation of digital compositing systems.
- Ultra-flat finish: no sheen or gloss to flare white/yellow on camera and spoil the key.
- Even texture and easy application: ready to use, with even coverage in two easy-to-apply coats.
- Less post cleanup: reduces rotoscoping and key repair caused by spectral interference from generic paints.
Proof points from real-world studios
Rosco’s own vectorscope graphic shows DigiComp HD Blue and Green sitting close to the theoretical ideal points for chrominance and luminance.
High chrominance and luminance are what make a compositing surface easier to key cleanly.
Rosco DigiComp HD was used for Amazon Prime football coverage in Brazil, where the team wanted “professional consistency and precision.”
DigiComp HD is specified for digital compositing, virtual production and studio applications where clean separation is critical.
Why it beats generic “green screen” paints
Generic green paints and even some paints sold as “chroma” products are often just close colour matches. They may look acceptable to the eye, but under camera and studio light they can create spectral interference, dirty keys, or reflective hotspots.
- Not just a green-looking paint: DigiComp HD is engineered for digital compositing, not décor.
- No hardware-store sheen: Rosco’s ultra-flat finish behaves properly on camera.
- More repeatable across shoots: easier lighting, easier keying, less touch-up.
- Built for production reliability: used in both compact livestream studios and large-scale broadcast installations.
Application guide
- Prep the surface: surface should be clean, dry and free from dirt and grease.
- Prime porous surfaces: for best results, use a white primer such as Rosco Tough Prime White.
- Stir thoroughly: stir before and during use. Commercial shaking the day before use is recommended.
- Apply thin, even coats: use a 3/8" nap roller or an appropriate spray system. Keep a wet edge and change roller direction often to avoid patterns.
- Plan for two coats: Rosco recommends two coats for even coverage due to the bright pigments used.
Recommended primer: Rosco Tough Prime – White helps create the flat, even base DigiComp HD needs for consistent keying performance.
Dry time is typically 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on temperature and humidity. Allow the first coat to dry completely before the second.
